Sherpa Kala Pathar Pants

Kala Pathar Pant
I must admit to not being convinced about these trousers at first sight, I just didn't think they were right for me, maybe it was the slightly baggy appearance around the ankles that made them look a little trendy for a somewhat more mature person perhaps. However overcoming my initial reaction I gave them a try and was immediately stuck by how comfortable they were and now they are my first choice ‘go to’ pants especially if I'm out on the hill with a chill wind blowing. In fact on a recent bitterly cold day in the Lakes when I would normally have been dragging on a pair of over trousers to combat the cold I remained warm and cosy all day in spite of the strong northerly whipping across the fells.

The four way stretch fabric is predominantly a polyester mix with the overall design including a gusseted crotch which adds to stretch and comfort, zippered side and rear pockets and zippered bellows on the lower leg which can accommodate ski boots or simply allow that little bit more flexibility should it be necessary. The trousers have a built in webbing belt and press stud fastening and a two way zipped fly all of which appear to be substantial and well made. However gentlemen, a warning, for those of you who have ‘nipped’ yourself with a zip fly in the past – the two way zip can get two bits of the cherry – er - if you’ll excuse the expression! However having said that the option of up or down when nature calls can be very handy – just don’t forget which way is up or should I say which way is closed because it can be embarrassing walking around with your fly undone! Finally the anti-microbial fabric should be a bonus for long extended trips although to be fair I haven’t been in a position to test that particular functionality as yet.

To date I have worn these pants in a variety of situations from being office bound to at least a dozen or so times over the winter generally on cold days ranging from a typical welsh winter monsoon complete with full waterproofs to the aforementioned bitterly cold day in the Lakes and I haven’t been disappointed yet – in fact – it’s just the opposite!

Fabric: 93% polyester 7% Spandex.
